BP Future Leaders Programme

Pedro Oliveira was appointed BP Retail Director for Spain. With this new role, Pedro Oliveira accumulates since November 1st the management of all the Retail Network in Spain.

Pedro Oliveira was appointed Head of Country – Portugal on July 2013 and  Chairman of BP Portugal Board of Directors. He has a Degree in Mechanical Engineering by the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), and with an MBA from the Catholic University of Lisbon.

Pedro Oliveira joined BP in 1996 having been developing his professional career in different and various areas of the company, having also worked in BP Spain where he assumed Iberian responsibilities.

Pedro Oliveira has over 20 years of experience within Spain and Portugal and has held a variety of leadership roles in fuels within COCO operations, franchising, B2B, cards and marketing.

On his curriculum, Retail Marketing Network Director (2002-2004), BP Retail Director (2004-2010) and Iberia Strategy Management (2010-2012).

In recent years, Pedro Oliveira has complemented his training through Executive education programs in areas such as  Leadership, Marketing and management  at Kellogg School of management (Northwestern University-Chicago).

Practitioner of several nautical sports, has still in his honors the title of National champion of Judo in 1995, 3rd place in the World Championship of Judo veterans in September 2014.

Born in Lisbon on November 3, 1971, is married and father of two daughters.

BP Future Leaders Programme

Dr. Xiaoping Yang is President of BP China and Chairperson of BP (China) Holdings Limited.

Dr. Xiaoping Yang, since joining BP in 1990, has worked across various business areas. During her 14 years in US, she accumulated profound business insights and industry experience. Dr. Yang began her career with BP, working for R&D management and technical services, across both chemical and refining businesses. During this time, she has also gained comprehensive experience in environmental governance technologies and pollution prevention management of soil and groundwater, and contributed to company-wide M&A project. Afterwards, Dr. Yang held a variety of commercial roles in the US fuels businesses in the areas of key account management and financial performance management between 1999 and 2004.

Dr. Xiaoping Yang returned to China in 2004 and has since held various senior roles within the petrochemical business, including HR Director of BP O&D Asia, Planning Manager, Technical Manager and later HSSE and Quality Director of Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company Limited (SECCO). During this time, Dr. Yang also participated in the drafting of Industry Standardization of the People's Republic of China on Work Safety issued by State Administration of Work Safety, which has contributed significantly to the safety management of China's oil and gas industry.

Between 2011 and 2014, Dr. Yang worked as General Manager of the BP-Sinopec (Zhejiang) Petroleum Company Ltd. (BPSNP), a fuel marketing joint venture between BP and Sinopec. In May 2014, she was appointed the Chairperson of BP Zhuhai Chemical Company Limited and later Performance Unit Leader for Aromatics Asia. Dr. Yang took on the position as Deputy General Manager of SECCO in January 2016. She was appointed, effective November 2016, President of BP China and Chairperson of BP (China) Holdings Limited, located in Beijing.

Dr. Xiaoping Yang holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.

In her role in Fuels UK Nikki is responsible for the safety, operational and financial performance of the retail business in the UK, comprising around 1,200 retail sites, and will drive connectivity across the retail, B2B and functional teams. 

Nikki Grady-Smith is an experienced retail sales and marketing executive with over 20 years’ experience across both large format and convenience retail. 

Nikki has a deep understanding of BP and the industry having held several positions across the company mostly within the downstream segment. She has been responsible for developing the retail consumer value proposition supporting the transformation of marketing and negotiating the first convenience partnership with Marks and Spencer’s in the UK. She is an externally experienced retailer and marketer who has delivered significant value to customer facing businesses including Tesco, Allied Domecq and BP. 

Nikki is a qualified chartered company secretary and has an LLM (Masters) in international business law.
