Tepper Tech Innovation Challenge

The Tepper Tech Innovation Challenge is a case competition for MBA students dedicated to applying business techniques to products in emerging technologies. Our goal is to create a community of forward-thinking students from the best technology-focused business schools in the nation.

Hosted by Carnegie Mellon Universityís Tepper School of Business and the Business and Technology Club, the 2019 edition will focus on Product Management.

Kick-off Event:
Our kick-off event is scheduled for September 25th, 2019 from 8:30 - 9:30 PM ET. Recording of this meeting will be made available on our website for interested students to view.

This competition is only open to MBA (full-time or part-time) students seeking internship opportunities for Summer 2020.

Open until 10:00 PM ET on October 3, 2019

Teams are to register their team for the competition on the competitionís website ( One team member will register the entire team (4-member team). Each team will be asked to provide the name and email address of each team member, as well as indicate a team leader.

No changes to team members are allowed after registration.

Qualifying Round:
Dates: October 4-7, 2019
Location: Virtual
Submission Deadline: Monday, October 7th, 11:59 PM ET

Registered teams will be provided the qualification prompt at 12:00 AM ET on Saturday, October 4th. Teams then have until the deadline to submit a white paper responding to the prompt via email.

The judging committee, consisting of Tepper School of Business faculty and sponsor judges, will decide the best papers. Qualifying Round results will be determined by mid-October, and selected teams will be asked to participate in the Final Round.

Final Round:
Dates: November 15 - 16, 2019
Location: Tepper School of Business, Pittsburgh PA
Winning teams from the qualifying round (8) will compete in the final round at the Tepper School of Business. This two-day event will culminate in a final presentation to a board of judges from sponsor companies and university faculty.

Teams are responsible for transfers to and from Pittsburgh, and their stay in Pittsburgh.

Winners will be determined and awarded on November 16th.
