Primary Job Function:

This Sr. Manager, Sales Solutions Design is responsible for the sales and technical execution of the lab systems, automation, informatics, and consulting lines of the Commercial Operations business for the Abbott Molecular Division (AMD) in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This position leads a team associated with these businesses to support the acquisition team and has full accountability for direct sales and support initiatives at the area level.

The Sr. Manager, Sales Solutions Design will report to the DVP & GM, Americas in Abbott Molecular. This position will work closely with multiple internal stakeholder teams. This person will also partner with the regional sales teams to identify opportunities, create and implement strategies, and leverage and develop all necessary sales and technical tools/programs to optimize sales opportunities, increase instrument placement, and improve overall business profitability.

Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Evaluate the technical solutions to include: analytical systems, automation and workflow opportunities, and allocate resources only to those opportunities that are consistent with AMD’s overall commercial strategy.
Maintain fiscal responsibility and complete each year under expense plan with a primary goal of exceeding each year’s sales and margin plan.
Provide leadership through direction, motivation, coaching, and skill development as well as product, industry, competitive, and company knowledge.
Work with Area and Global Marketing to create, implement, and communicate technical solutions, automation and workflow consulting strategy, business plans, and vision.
Set goals and monitor progress of the team.
Maintain and retain a diverse and motivated team.
Conduct performance evaluations; provide feedback on performance gaps and provide coaching to minimize gaps and prepare the employee to meet personal and company goals.

Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA and/or MS Degree in Engineering/Technical Field is preferred.

Minimum Position Requirements:
7+ years’ experience of the United States, Canada, and Latin America Hospital/Reference Lab market and Healthcare reform impact to this segment including trends and issues as they relate to Abbott Molecular, Lab Solutions, Automation and Informatics and consulting practices.
3+ years’ experience leading teams in the Molecular or Diagnostic industry.
Technical, laboratory, process engineering and/or sales experience is necessary.
Certification in Lean or Six Sigma is highly valuable.
Candidate should have advanced analytical and communication skills.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent organizational skills.
Executive presentation skills are needed.
Ability to examine business environment and develop/execute in response to market opportunities will be of significant benefit.
Must be willing to travel 50-60% throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
