This Senior Financial Analyst role provides key finance support to VP and Senior Director leaders in the Corporate Communications and Corporate Quality functions.

Responsibilities span many areas of financial management, including:

• Core FP&A duties: reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis

• Financial modeling

• Capital spending management

• Financial systems maintenance and support

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include the following:

• Lead FP&A responsibilities for Corp Communications ($53M cost pool)

• Manage global Quality Council shared funding cost model ($5M cost pool)

• Develop understanding of business issues facing the organizations you support and provide financial recommendations

• Provide monthly financial reporting and variance analysis on P&L results to function business partners at varying levels

• Lead financial discussions during monthly and quarterly review meetings

• Prepare annual operating plan budgets at detailed cost center level

• Compile monthly and quarterly P&L forecasts

• Review economic analysis models for capital project requests, assist with decision making for capital projects, forecast capital spending

• Perform month-end close tasks to ensure accurate financial results

• Help leaders and cost center owners with making financial decisions and analyzing trade-offs

• Assist with preparation of business case financial modeling for function transformation and other programs

• Provide business case guidance to functional partners on NPV, ROI, cost versus benefits analysis and decisions

• Maintain Corporate Sector budgeting application: administer user access, answer user questions, manage alternate reporting hierarchies

• Support overall Corporate Sector reporting requirements: interface with functional finance teams, collect forecast and AOP data, tie out to system submissions

• Complete special or ad hoc project requests

• Embrace continuous process improvement approach by identifying and implementing improvements across span of work responsibilities

• Support finance optimization and transformation priorities

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of work experience in Finance or Accounting (Advanced Degree with 2+ years)

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• MBA or CPA designation

• Advanced Excel skills and experience with PowerPoint, Outlook, Word

• Financial systems experience with SAP, Smartview/Spend, Medtronic’s Global Financial System platforms

• Experience with financial modeling (NPV, ROI, etc.)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail oriented while understanding big picture impacts

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work well in fast-paced, complex environment

• Excellent interpersonal skills with capacity to build strong relationships and support team members

• Self-motivation to succeed and ability to work independently

• Eagerness to learn, be proactive, and excel at responsibilities

• Effective prioritization skills in managing multiple work areas
