Top Development Programs - Internships 2021
This article is part of the “2021 Ranking of MBA Development Programs”. At the time of this writing, our Development Program Directory has 287 internships, with this article focusing on the top ten!
The top three internships for this past year, in descending order, were Johnson & Johnson International Recruitment and Development Program Internship (IRDP), Google MBA Intern, AB InBev Global MBA Internship. Unlike with the Top Programs overall, the podium programs have not changed this year, the only difference being J&J and AB InBev swapping first and third positions. This is, however, in line with the increased popularity and demand in the Healthcare industry following the global pandemic.
What was a surprise was that two of the three Amazon programs that were in the top ten last year, didn't make the cut. With not only the increasing popularity of the Technology industry, but also that of Amazon as a whole, this was certainly unexpected. In contrast to that, this year there were four programs in the Food/Beverage industry with AB InBev, Nestle, Heineken and Burger King, in contrast to last year which only had AB InBev at the top. I guess the saying "a man's gotta eat" can be taken more literally in this case.
In conclusion, while some of the programs in the top ten are expected and on trend with previous years, there were also some new unexpected surprises. Whether this is sign of a new norm or just a temporary trend will have to be seen in years to come.
