Most Popular Employers 2020

This article is part of the “2020 Ranking of MBA Development Programs”. At the time of this writing, our Employers Directory has 1120 companies, with this article focusing on the top ten!

The top three most popular employers for this past year were Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, and Siemens, taking first, second and third place respectively. All three employers maintain their spots from last year's rankings, with Amazon and Johnson & Johnson holding on to their spots since 2016! Their popularity is understandable. Not only are they two very large companies, with high potential for growth and international prospects, but they also offer a significant amount of development programs! Johnson & Johnson alone offers eleven internships, which is one of the most offered by a single company in our directory.

The most popular employers seem to be following the same trend as the Top Development Programs and Internships. The majority of them are based in the Technology industry or have some sort of engineering background, with a handful being in the Healthcare industry. This, however, isn’t much of a surprise, with Technology and Healthcare being two are the largest and fastest growing industries in recent years. What does seem to stand out is the popularity of AB InBev. It has consistently been in many of our Top 10 lists this year, and has been the only employer based in the Consumer Products industry.

It is interesting to note that, with the exception of Microsoft and Chevron, all of the most popular employers this year were in the Top 10 list last year as well. Microsoft and Chevron moved up quite a few spots to make it into the Top 10, but given that they offer six and five Development Programs respectively, it makes sense that they have gained popularity from previous years.

With the uncertainty of recent times, it will be more likely that the employers who are willing to take more of a risk, and are willing to invest in new candidates will be the ones that more people will gravitate towards.
