HEC CSR Challenge
Objective
The mission of the CSR Challenge is to promote sustainability and social responsibility while encouraging future leaders to think differently and to explore solutions to social and environmental challenges.

Description
The HEC Montréal MBA Student Association (AEMBA, Association des Étudiants MBA des Hautes Études Commerciales inc.), in collaboration with the HEC Montréal MBA program, Pôle IDEOS (Centre d'impact social) and the Revue Internationale de Cas en Gestion (RICG), is organizing a bilingual case-writing competition. This case-writing competition is open to all authors (including authors from outside HEC as well as non-academic authors) whose cases meet the criteria described below.
The winning case from this competition will be used for the 15th edition of the AEMBA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Challenge to be held in 2024. In this case study competition, MBA students from universities around the world are invited to reflect on and discuss complex issues related to corporate social and environmental responsibility.
A prize of $4,000 Canadian dollars will be awarded to the winning case. The prize will be awarded at the CSR Challenge closing ceremony. If used as part of the AEMBA CSR Challenge 2024, the runner-up case will also receive $2,000 CAD. The winning case can also be submitted directly to ICGR for peer review. If selected, additional conditions will apply (for example, including a full pedagogical note).
Elegibility
Cases that meet the following criteria are eligible for the case-writing competition.
Cases must not have been previously used in a case competition, published by a case center, published in a journal or made available to the public.
Beyond simply describing an organization, the case must present a specific managerial challenge.
Whatever the organization, whatever its size, business sector or geographical region, the managerial challenge of the case must be linked to social and environmental responsibility.
Cases may be submitted by any author or group of authors (internal or external to HEC Montréal).
Cases must be written in English or French.
Cases must present a real situation (based on public data, undisguised non-public data, or disguised non-public data). Fictitious cases are not admissible. Cases must be presented with the authorization of the company presented in the case, or with an indication that only public information was used to develop the case[1].
Cases should have a maximum of 12 pages of text.
By submitting a case, authors authorize that - if their case wins this case-writing competition - it may be used in the CSR 2024 competition (i.e. distributed to participants and judges).
