Job Purpose

Reporting to the Marketing Director AFEMEA, the Marketing Innovation Manager is responsible for leading the newly created Customer Engagement Centre at the Innovation Centre Europe, with the primary objective of delivering organic growth by driving collaborative innovation with customers. He/She will leverage the command of marketplace and retail trends, including sustainability, design thinking, consumer insights, and iterative collaboration following the CatalystTM approach, to develop real-world packaging solutions for customers that meet their challenges and deliver incremental revenue growth. In collaboration with the CatalystTM Packaging Design Team he/she will ensure advancement of a robust project pipeline, and oversee execution of that pipeline into commercial sales as well as elevating the company’s relationships with customers throughout their respective organizations, including marketing, R&D, and package engineering functions.

This position is available in Ghent, Belgium and would require relocation.

Principal Accountabilities
Lead customer engagement to collaboratively develop packaging solutions by leveraging broad expertise in market intelligence, consumer insight, and manufacturing capabilities.
Collaborate with the CatalystTM Packaging Design Team to translate expertise in material science technology and packaging design to develop marketplace solutions that are executable in the customer’s manufacturing environments.
Responsible for prioritizing assignments, ensuring engagement readiness, and executing flawlessly in a dynamic environment.
Align the CatalystTM Team’s work with the company’s business units to ensure marketing, sales, and R&D are collectively aligned and working against key revenue-driving projects.
Engage marketing and sales to advance innovation work into a project pipeline, establish KPIs and oversee projects through to commercialization and revenue realization.
Responsible for KPI tracking,financial delivery in overall growth pipeline revenue, and annual commercialized revenue.
Drive the internal and external marketing of the Customer Engagement Centre. Ensure priorities are in line with the rest of the business and that the CatalystTM Team supports key revenue-driving projects

Formal Qualifications and Experience
University degree is required with an emphasis on marketing, business administration or engineering; MBA is preferred.
10+ years’ experience in marketing or R&D in a FMCG or packaging company and high degree of familiarity with core products and processes.
Fluent English is required, other European languages are an asset.
Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and formulating marketing and product strategies.
Certificate in Market Research from Burke Institute or similar is an asset.

Trained in consumer research/moderating techniques/partnerships for insights generation, focusing on consumer packaging UX/empathy.
Ability to craft “concepts / sell narrative” to convey value proposition.
Comfortable in customer facing and leading discussions/presentations, ambiguous situations, quick to pivot.
Actively engages with design hands-on teams, helping to dictate design strategy for group based on consumer / retailer / customer / market insights.
Shows high confidence both internally and externally, excellent leadership capabilities.

Must be open to significant travel during the first few years in role, including potential short-term secondment to Amcor’s leading innovation centre in the US, as well visits and rotations across various EMEA sites in order to learn more about the business.
