Responsible for the leadership and direction of the Fund Administration department including Financial Reporting, Fund Tax and Performance Reporting.
Establishes goals, develops policies and procedures as well as financial and strategic plans.
Develops and coordinates departmental budgets to ensure cost effective operations.
Manages and develops staff to ensure smooth and effective operation of the department.
Anticipates and provides solutions to complex business and operational problems ensuring the highest quality of service to clients.
Provide strategic leadership and direction for specific functions/management teams within Fund Administration.
Establish department goals and decides on courses of action to achieve these goals. Develops policies, procedures and measures consistent with departmental and corporate strategies.
Work closely with other management in the department to focus on implementation and refinement of more effective work processes
Develop managers leadership potential
Responsibility for the creation and oversight of fund filings and reporting (e.g. N-CSR, N-CSRS, N-Q, N-SAR, N-MFP, NPX, 24f-2), board reporting, tax filings and performance reporting
Support for the creation of prospectus and SAIs
Maintain knowledge of changes to accounting practices
Extensive interface with internal legal, product development and finance departments
Ad-hoc responsibilities such as expense analysis, pro forma financial statements, etc.
Provide direct support to the Fund Treasurer and Trustees
Make sponsorship recommendations and/or decisions on technological and non-technical changes based on appropriate analysis (IIR, NPV, cost/benefit).
Develop short-term and long-term plans that support company strategies including supporting budget requests and financial estimates for all areas within their management responsibilities.
Review and approves the setting of department budgets in conjunction with senior management.
Manage overall department budget, including overtime and miscellaneous expenses.
Reports to the Senior Vice President of Mutual Fund Operations
Manages exempt and non-exempt staff either directly or through subordinate supervisors.
Plans, allocates, monitors work and makes decisions regarding employment, performance appraisal, training, salary adjustments and related personnel actions.
Establishes departmental strategy and delegates objectives to ensure achievement of strategy
Minimum Required Qualifications
5 to 10 years of management experience in the Asset Management industry
Exposure to Fund Boards and trustee support
Strong leadership, management and team development abilities
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
In-depth knowledge of company products, risk tolerances and the mutual fund industry
Ability to present plans and proposals to groups of all sizes and levels
Understanding of business health indicators including profit margins, unit cost, and market comparisons
Extensive knowledge of 40 Act and Reg. SX reporting requirements, fund audits and regulatory considerations
Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and analytical abilities
Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Familiarity with various software applications (e.g. RR Donnelley, Confluence
Fund audit experience, preferably with a big 4 firm
CPA strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $120- $175,000 commensurate with experience, qualification, and performance. Compensation can also vary based on other factors, such as cost of living.
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus
