Global Investment Control directly supports Capital Group’s Investment professionals, helps implement investment decisions and facilitate the investment process. Operating from locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, core functions include order management, portfolio construction and compliance, trade support, corporate action communication and coordination, and proxy services, among others. These services support the management of equity and fixed income portfolios for retail, institutional and private clients.

In addition, GIC supports enterprise wide initiatives and strategic objectives. The Vehicle Flexibility effort (VFlex) continues to grow in scope, as Capital Group seeks to enhance our strategic capabilities inside and outside of the US. As we introduce new funds and asset classes to the program, GIC has an evolving need to directly support the process.

As a Manager Based in London, you will play a critical leadership role on the Portfolio Implementation and Compliance (PIC) team who oversee client accounts and funds in CG’s institutional focused line of business, directly supporting the Investment group in: establishing and implementing investment policy and procedures, suggesting and processing orders for cash flow and compliance, and overseeing client compliance issues and guidelines. The team acts as a liaison between the Investment Group and Trading, and work closely with other departments including Marketing, Legal, Client Services, Core Operations and various operations teams.

The PIC team also plays a key role in implementing the VFlex effort, overseeing VFlex portfolios, processing and managing investment orders, and addressing compliance issues and guidelines. In addition to working with other GIC and IO teams globally, they work closely with Vehicle Portfolio Managers (VPM) and Vehicle Specialists (VS). VFlex operations are new and evolving, and are expected to play a more significant role in the delivery of CG’s institutional focused vehicles in the future. As such, this individual will develop deep VFlex technical knowledge, and it is essential to have an innovative engineering mentality, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to work closely with technology partners to enable scalable solutions.

Role Specific:
Leading, guiding, and co-ordinating team resources to meet demand for complex fund/client activity and strategic projects, and provide support as needed.
Support the IG on the management of Institutional vehicles and help triage issues through navigating various CG systems and liaising with different internal teams.
Proactively evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls and related business processes, make recommendations for solutions or enhancements.
Identify opportunities and champion change to continuously improve processes that realize efficiencies and mitigate risk to enable scale.
Leveraging data to enhance decision-making.
Develop a high performing team by managing, coaching and mentoring associates, including identifying and providing associates with challenging development opportunities and assigning work based on business needs.
Partnering globally within PIC and with key stakeholders to design, implement and support an approach to Institutional scale/Model Management in Europe.
Partnering with the London PIC VFlex Manager to design an integrated Scaled Vehicles vision for PIC in Europe (aligning people, process, and technology), whilst supporting the change of the PIC team towards the new quantitative construction environment.
Partnering on the PIC implementation, training, on-boarding and continued stabilisation of our new Equity order management system (CRD).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive experience in Investment Operations required
Strong domain and/or Management experience preferred.
Undergraduate degree required, MBA and/or CFA certification preferred.
Previous management experience or demonstrated track record of leading projects, mentoring, or leading and coordinating the work of peers.
Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly learn, equity portfolio support for multiple vehicles.
Existing knowledge of quantitative financial models or comfort with learning in a quantitative setting is a positive.
