Come join us to develop, drive, and execute a new product category at Facebook! Facebook is looking for an experienced Global Supply Manager (GSM) that wants to be on the ground floor of breakthrough technology and building a world-class supply chain. This individual will own supply and cost for custom mechanical components and will work closely with Hardware Engineering and Technical Operations to ensure a successful product launch. GSMs are responsible for ensuring their suppliers meet component demand, delivery schedule, specifications, and quality standards, at the lowest possible total cost to Facebook.

Develop category sourcing strategy ensuring suppliers are capable of meeting Facebook’s current and future technical and business requirements
Benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into Facebook’s supply chain
Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage Request-For-Quote process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with Hardware Engineering and Technical Operations teams
Proactively provide manufacturability and cost input to inform product design, architecture, and feature set decisions
Drive Early Supplier Involvement to ensure component suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps
Negotiate key agreements with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms
Develop and analyze detailed cost and supply models
Lead Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including part, capacity, inventory, transportation, and yield costs
Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply issue
Institute programs to optimize schedule flexibility while minimizing excess inventory exposure
Work with Supply Base Engineering and our Contract Manufacturing partners to resolve any chronic part shortage or quality problems which are affecting production schedules
Own supplier ramp plan, ongoing production plan and forecast, and tooling/fixture/line qualification schedule for all designated suppliers
Able to travel frequently to China as needed
Job qualifications and experience, academic degrees, personal traits...
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes including plastic molding, metal stamping/forging, die-casting, CNC, MIM, surface coating, and assembly processes
Proven project management, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills
Robust quantitative and analytical skills including command of Microsoft Excel
Experience working on high-pressure project schedules

MBA or Master of Engineering
7 or more years of total professional work experience including 2 or more years of mechanical supply chain management experience, preferably in Consumer Electronics or similar industry
Other commodity sourcing experience. e.g., thermal, soft goods, packaging, electro-mechanical
