2017 Rotman Design Challenge Recap
On April 1st and 2nd, over 125 students from 12 leading business and design schools across Canada, the USA, and Europe competed at the Rotman Design Challenge (RDC) in Toronto Canada for a total prize of $17,000 CAD. The challenge put forth by Canadian telecom sponsor TELUS was... "Our vision is to be admired globally for the remarkable outcomes we create in the lives of our customers, employees, Canadians, and the communities they live in; we aspire to be the best place to work in the world. As the future of work is rapidly changing, how might TELUS develop, attract and retain top talent to achieve this aspiration over the next five years?".
Judges for the competition included senior leaders from CIBC, Fidelity Investments/Labs, IBM, Indigo, Steelcase, TELUS as well as leading design thinking agencies Bridgeable, Doblin, Idea Couture, SYPartners, and Vuka.
1st place "Liquid Drone" of Northwestern Kellogg (Claire Henderson, Mike Perry, Natasha Singh, Nick Anastasiades)
2nd place "Protohype" of Rotman School of Management (Bronwyn Zuck, Emma Andrews, Jason Liu, Jennifer Nachshen, Sara Doucet)
3rd place "Team Co." of Illinois Institute of Technology (John Pew, Kira Novak, Marcelo Kingston, Marcelo Kingston, Sarah Braunstein, Shangyanyan Li)
The weekend was managed by the 2017 RDC Executive Team Conrad Balbinot, John Thomas Stevenson, Karis Fisher, and Laura Miller.
